About John B. Sliney School

John B. Sliney School opened in 1929 as Branford High School.  It was later renamed in honor of  John Buckley Sliney.  Sliney was born on April 6, 1867 and was educated in Branford schools.  He graduated with the Class of 1915 with his future wife, Therese Hall.  His peers recognized his leadership qualities, as he was elected class president.  His father submitted his name for election to the school board.  He served on the Branford Board of Education for thirty-five years and also was First Selectman.
